Sea Farms Inc. and Shells Unlimited are sister seafood companies operating out of Hudgins and Hayes, Virginia. While traditionally selling wholesale, they are now expanding distribution to retail operators in the surrounding areas. This is part of an effort to give more consumers fresh, local seafood.
Originally from Long Island, owner Ron Sopko grew up with a passion for things related to the water. After years of work in the seafood industry and a short stint in the restaurant business, he jumped on an opportunity to open Sea Farms in Mathews County, Virginia, back in 1987. Today, two of his four sons run the family business that sells mostly local seafood, including oysters, crabs, clams and local fish.
